Men Tell All

The Bachelorette: Men Tell All episode aired tonight. I hate that they always throw this show in the week before the finale just to suck in a few extra viewers for ratings. But you know I DVR'd it and watched it after Izzy went to bed. I don't have much to say about it, but here are a few thoughts:

1. I think they should have named this episode "Craig R. Tells All." Dude wouldn't shut up!

2. Loved the behind-the-scenes shots and commentary on The Phantom, formerly known as Mystery Man.

3. Kasey is still crazy, but at least he has a good sense of humor about it.

4. Who did Ali's hair? They should be fired. Me no likey.
5. I'm over Wrestler and Frank.

6. I would love to see all the uncut and uncensored footage of all the downtime the guys had. They are always way more entertaining than a bunch of bickering girls on The Bachelor.

Battle of the Bows

Izzy's bow journey has come full circle. As you can see from this first picture, I decked her out in fancy hair bows as soon as I possibly could. Here she is sporting one on her bubble cpap hat when she was about one month old. She was quite the NICU trendsetter.
When the bubble cpap hat came off, the bows got a little bigger. This picture was taken on her last day in the hospital.
....and they kept growing. I think this is when she started to question what mama was putting on her head. ;-)
She may have questioned the bows, but at least she didn't mess with them...
...until she turned one. That's when the Battle of the Bows officially began. I can't even tell you how many times she pulled this bow off of her head while we were taking these birthday pictures.

So, I decided to throw in the towel. She went bowless for several months. As much as it hurt me to leave her extensive bow collection untouched during that time, it just wasn't worth the effort. So, we accessorized in other ways. I think she pulls the shades off quite nicely.

Mama strikes back! Izzy finally got enough hair to sweep her bangs back with her little bows. Check out the first picture in this post. She's wearing this same bow polka-dot bow in both pictures if that gives you any perspective on how small she was. Crazy, huh?!?

She eventually got tired of even the little bows, so I tried something new: the piggy!

And this brings us to today. She's back in the same bow she started in. The piggy with the addition of a little bow...perfection! And so far, she doesn't mess with this style. Looks like mama won this one!

Double Rainbow

The hubs introduced me to the greatness of this video last night, and now I can't stop saying, "It's so bright and vivid. What does this mean???"

So, I can't decide if we should all take a cue from this guy and embrace life's little wonders to the fullest....or if we should get a prescription for the meds he is so obviously abusing. You be the judge.

Where Did My Baby Go?

For some reason, Izzy looks so big today. I sent Griff some pics from my phone, and he said the same thing, so I thought I would post some pics of my rapidly growing baby and her fancy piggy tail. From the looks of this first one, she is not amused.

We love books!

She's walking everywhere! Seriously, how did this happen? Sigh ;-(

And just to prove that she runs the house these days, Izzy decided to wake up at 4:45am last week. She refused to sleep in her bed from that point on, but she fell smooth out when I brought her to our bed. Go figure. Griff took this picture later that morning (sorry it's blurry - he left the flash off so he wouldn't wake us). Yes, my head is practically resting on my nightstand. And yes, we have a king size bed.

Cry Me a River, Frank!

I've been waiting for this episode all season. They teased it to death, so we all knew what was coming in Tahiti....Frank is gone!!! Apparently Frank still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend back home. It's just that simple, but instead of just nipping it in the bud early on in the episode, they dragged it out, almost over the entire TWO hours! After several producer interviews and a sit-down with Chris Harrison, it was like, okay Frank, we get it. You love Nicole. Now get out of my living room! I was so over him and his drama that I wasn't even excited about his confession to Ali. Of course, she was crushed. I seriously do not understand how not one, but two girls could be so head-over-heels for this mess of a man. And isn't he a writer? A writer that put his career on hold, took a job at the Gap (only speculating here), and now lives at home with his parents at 31? What kind of a writer repeatedly says, "her and I?" I'm thinking he might need a do-over on that career move. Oh, and you know if he hadn't dropped the ex-girlfriend bomb on Ali, she would have given him a rose this week. I wonder who she was going to cut...and I bet the guys do, too.

Okay, so without Frank in the picture, we are down to Roberto and Chris. If you remember correctly, these were my top two picks from the beginning. Maybe I should be a professional matchmaker. :-) I am definitely on Team Chris. Roberto may be nice to look at, but I don't think they would have much to talk about off camera.

Even if Ali does have this "amazing connection" (I'm going to scream if I hear those words on this show again!) with Chris or Roberto, how could she possibly be ready to marry one of them? Am I the only who thinks that is insane? Of course you are going to feel romantic sparks when all of your dates are in these incredibly extravagant destinations and there's a camera in your face. Who's going to bicker and argue under those conditions? In a way, this show kind of sets these couples up for failure....except for that Trista girl, of course. Their entire relationship, up until their engagement, is spent in fantasy land. I'm hoping that Ali and Chris (okay, okay...or Roberto) decide to just date exclusively at the end of this instead of jumping into an engagement. We all saw what happened to Jake and The Sausage...

Can't wait for the reunion next week. Weatherman, Wrestler, Big Hair Craig, oh my!

Final Four

We were out of town last week, but I figured it is never too late for a Bachelorette post.

So, I don't really have a lot to say (you're shocked, right?) about last week's episode. Ali went to meet the families of the final 4 guys, and they all appeared relatively normal...aside from all the dead animals in Kirk's dad's basement, of course.

Ali seemed to have to best connection with Chris and Roberto. I'd be fine with her ending up with either of them (as if she is going to consult me), but I think if I were forced to choose for her, I might have to go with Chris. He seems so sincere...well, as sincere as you can be while on a game show trying to meet your spouse. And his family is really sweet, too. Didn't you just love his dad? I do like Roberto too, but he hasn't really opened up much, so he is still kind of a mystery. Although I was sad for Kirk when she sent him home, I do agree that he wasn't the right guy for her. And I think we all know how I feel about Frank. He is just way too emotional and needy for me. His lack of confidence is not attractive and neither is his extremely low-cut wife beater and old man cardigan. Go home, Frank!

Time Really Does Fly

Izzy is growing like a weed these days. She is almost 17 months old. Crazy!! She took her first steps last month, June 12th to be exact. I have a video on my iPhone of her second day of walking, but I can't for the life of me get it to work on blogger. I had a "she's walking" blog lined up and ready to go, but the world of technology had other plans. Boo!! So, she has been taking steps for about a month now, but her walking has really taken off in the last week. Griff and I went on vacation (more about that in an upcoming post!) for a week, and when we got back, she was a walking fool! He took some video of her tonight, so hopefully I can get it on here soon.

The only thing that Baby Girl hasn't caught up on as quickly as we would like is her speech. She still hasn't said any words, and she isn't making any consonant sounds. We are currently working on getting her set up with a speech therapist, so hopefully we will see some progress soon. She may not be talking, but she can certainly communicate with us. She can be pretty demanding as it is, so I think we might be in trouble when she does start talking.

Our 4th of July was spent at my sister and brother-in-law's house. They have a ton of land with a creek running through it, so it's the perfect spot for a big family picnic. Izzy had fun dipping her toes in the creek with Papa. Unfortunately, her fun ended when the sun went down. Homegirl did not like the fireworks. Everytime they went off, she would freak out, so she slept on mommy in the truck while everyone else enjoyed the show.

Another thing she is not a fan of: the vacuum cleaner. I can't say that I blame her. I'm not a fan of it myself. I was cleaning (yes hubs, I was cleaning) and when the vacuum cleaner made its appearance, Izzy ran for shelter under the table. After seeing what my cleaning does to her, it's obvious the only solution to this problem is to stop cleaning. High-five, Izzy!

A Compromise

Okay, I got the message loud and clear. It seems a few of my readers *ahem, Papa and Nanna* do not appreciate the Bachelorette talk, as it interferes with their Izzy updates. So, as a compromise, I will keep it short this week. And let the record show that there have been two Izzy postings since my last Bachelorette post. :-)

For Izzy's Fans:

A few thoughts on last night's episode:

1. I am horribly ashamed and embarrassed that I fell for the show's tricky teaser last week. They showed Ty on the beach, so I assumed he made it to Tahiti, and either Kirk or Chris would be sent packing. You got me, Bachelorette. You got me.

2. So happy that Ty is gone. I didn't have a good feeling about him. And what guy his age uses the phrase, "I'm tickled to death...?" Next, please!

3. I thought sweet little moldy Kirk was just precious on his date with Ali, but next week just might ruin it for me. Apparently his dad is a taxidermist and has a slew of dead animals in his basement. Creepy!

4. Could Chris have driven the moped ANY slower??? He is super sweet though, and the bracelet was a nice touch.

5. Roberto....mmmm. That is all.

6. Has there been an episode to date where Frank didn't cry to the cameras about how all the other guys are going on dates with his "girlfriend" and he wishes it were him? No? Didn't think so. Ugh! Get over it dude, she's not your girlfriend, and you signed up for this ridiculous show.

7. Did anyone else think Ali's skirts were just a tad too short? I'm pretty sure she flashed half of Portugal.

8. And obviously I must address the trainwreck that is Jake and Vienna Sausage. First of all, I am shocked that this didn't work. I mean, if you can't find your spouse on the Bachelor, where can you find one? Is the sarcasm obvious enough? They are both so desparately hungry for media attention, and in my opinion, flat-out pathetic. They were arguing like a couple of middle school students, and trust me, I've seen my share of middle school break-ups. My favorite was when Jake raised his voice at The Sausage and she burst into tears. It's too bad that it didn't work out, because they really do deserve each other. Obviously, you can't believe either one of them, but I do have to say, Vienna made a better argument than Jake. He has always been gross and cheesy, but he came across like a controlling jerk last night. I think all the contestants from his season should thank him for not giving them a rose.

Our Little Cupcake

A few weeks ago, we had a big party celebrating Izzy's first year home from the hospital. Since her actual birthday is February 26, which fell right in the middle of our "lock down" season, we kept things low key at the house with our immediate families. We decided she had been through enough to deserve two parties this first year, so we planned another party with more family and friends on her original due date, which was the day before she was released from the NICU. If there was any question about her being spoiled before this party, I now have the answer: yes, she is rotten. She got so much cute stuff, enough to make me a bit jealous of her wardrobe. How sad is that?!? I was a little nervous that all of our guests would be sweating bullets since we had the party at the park, but we got very lucky with the weather. There was plenty of shade and a nice cool breeze. I would say Izzy's first party was a success. Now, only 7 months until the next one...

The invitation, minus a few details. I'm having fun with digital scrapbooking.

The dessert table. Mom helped me with the cupcakes the day before the party. Because I'm a walking disaster, I managed to spill a canister of sugar on my kitchen floor, pretty much 5 minutes after I filled it with an ENTIRE 5lb bag. Awesome.

This little girl is very loved!

The three musketeers. Izzy playing with her NICU roomies, Hadley and Emily. Special girls!

The mamas behind the miracles. Me, Crystal, and Becca.

Bounce house fun!
