Izzy's Minnie Mouse Birthday Party

We hosted Izzy's Minnie Mouse-themed 3rd birthday party at the house yesterday.  This was the first home birthday party we've attempted for Izzy, and I'm not going to lie - it was a lot of work.  It turned out pretty darn cute though, and Izzy had a ton of fun, so I'd definitely call it a success!  This party planning stuff is right up my alley, and Minnie was such a fun theme.  I very kindly gave my friend, Katie, the job of taking pictures at the party, and she took her job very seriously (thank you, Katie!), so prepare yourself for a LOT of pictures!

Minnie Mouse Birthday Party Invitation - Custom - Printable Minnie Mouse Invitation, Walt Disney Invitation 4x6 OR 5x7 Size DIY
I ordered these invitations, with our info obviously, from Etsy and got them printed at a local print shop.

The front door sign - saw a smilar sign for sell on Etsy and made my own.  Paper from Hobby Lobby.

Another banner and sign I made - and I put some of Izzy's Minnie toys up for decoration
I had lots of fun with the food!  I made all the food labels using a Minnie font I downloaded for free online.
super cute bowl from Target!

....which is actually Pirate Booty.  Oops.

I have to give my husband full credit for these.  Nice job, huh?!?

Cupcakes I made for the kids.  I got crafty and made the cupcake pics and the sign for the top, too.
I wish I could take credit for this, but nobody would believe me anyway - ha!  My extremely talented friend, Tracy, owns her own business:, and she made this awesome cake.  Is that not the cutest cake you've ever seen?!?  And it tasted just as good as it looked.  Trust me, I may have had a few pieces. :-/

I decided to rent a bounce house at the very last minute, and I'm so glad I did.  It was a big hit with the kids!

The birthday girl.  I ordered her cute outfit from Etsy:  Poor thing woke up this morning, walked out to  the back door and said, "Go see the bounce house."  I had to break the sad news to her that it was only here for her birthday party and we couldn't keep it.
I set up a little craft table in the garage where the kids could decorate a sack for the candy they collected from the pinata.  I also printed out a bunch of coloring sheets of all the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse characters from

There are crayons, markers, and glitters in the little buckets.  Stickers, confetti cut-out, and glue along the table.

After crafts, it was time for the pinata!

Birthday girl got the first swing
She was not happy to give up the bat.
The kids swarmed the candy like a bunch of vultures!

Look at my sweet girl!

Next up was "Pin the bow on Minnie."  I made the poster and had it laminated at Staples.  The bow is laminated too, so I just used double sided tape on it.

Time to sing happy birthday!

She was too excited!
LOVE this picture!

Love that face.  How you doin', cupcake??

Presents were up next!

She got so many fun new things from all her friends and family!

She's telling everyone thank you.  Sweet baby!

Her friends picked up their party favors on the way out.

Everyone got a little Minnie/Mickey play pack and a cookie.
Look how adorable these are!  The same friend who made the cake also made these cookies.  I'm telling ya...she's crazy good!

And there ya have it.  No spills, nothing broken, no injuries, and (I think) everyone left happy.  Girlfriend was so exhausted that she passed out during her breathing treatment around 6:45.  I think that's definitely a sign of a good party! ;-)
I can't even believe this sweet baby doll is going to be 3 next week.  Sure do love her!

All the Cool Kids Are Wearing Them...

... diapers that is.  At least that's the motto in our house.  Yep, Huggies is still getting our business these days.  I'm trying as much as possible to keep her in Pull-Ups or big girl panties, and we have moments of progress and success, but overall we are nowhere near potty trained.  Check out the attitude from this girl.  Good thing she's cute.

Oh, and perhaps I owe hubs an apology.  Tuesday night, Izzy surprised me with this little Valentine's present.

Fancy, huh??  Now, I know my girl is pretty sharp, but I'm guessing she had some help from her daddy on this one.  Turns out he can hide some gifts pretty well. ;)

Happy Valentine's Day

I went to Wal-Mart last night at 7:30, completey not thinking that it was the night before Valentine's day.  Big Mistake.  Big.  Huge.  (Shout out, Pretty Woman!)  I had to take Griff's truck because he parked in the middle of the driveway and he was blocking me in.  The place was nuts, and they were out of the two main things I went for: poster board and double-sided tape.  What the heck?  How does Wal-Mart run out of poster board and double-sided tape??  Stupid store.  So, my quick trip to one store turned into a long trip to two stores.  And as I was putting the goods in the back seat of Griff's truck, I spied a James Avery bag.  He is such sweet husband, but he is pretty lousy at hiding gifts - this isn't the first gift I've stumbled upon.  I felt really bad for accidentally spoiling his surprise, so I was just going to play it off and hope he wouldn't think about it.  Well, he had remembered while I was gone.  When I walked through the door, his first question was, "Did you look in the back seat?"  I'm a horrible liar, and he knew from my face that I had seen the gift bag.

So, long story longer, I got an early Valentine's gift last night.  He went out and got the gift and told me to go ahead and open it.  Inside was this cd:

Remeber the song I posted here a few weeks ago?  I've got a sweet husband, I tell ya!

 ....and this bracelet:
I'm a lucky girl, indeed!

And this is what was waiting for Miss Izzybelle at the breakfast table this morning.  We also bought her the Lady and the Tramp dvd, but we gave it to her early so we could all watch it together last Sunday night.

She had the sweetest little smile on her face when she saw her surprises.  Unfortunately, this is the only picture I got of her.  Clearly, she was excited about those Skittles!

Moving on to the crafty things!  I asked my friend Janean for some cute Valentine craft ideas for Izzy's preschool party.  She sent me a bunch of great links, and I just loved this one:

VDay Cupcake Liner Card Craft

Taking Janean's advice, I altered it a bit, and put them on popsicle sticks instead of the ribbon.  I decided on something else for the class project, but Izzy and I had fun making these little "flowers."  Look how cute!
Vases from Target's dollar spot

I loved the cupcake liners, so I decided to have the kiddos make Valentine's wreaths.

The party is today, and I have the plates and supplies for each kid ready to go in their own little baggies.  Can't wait to see how the kids like this project!

These are horrible iphone pictures, but here's what Izzy gave her teachers this morning.  Inside the bag is a Little Debbie Valentine's cake and a Target gift card.  Easy and cute!
Taking this photo, I knew I would be too lazy to photoshop our last name out, so I sensored with the pen.  Nice touch, huh?

I hope you all have a fun Valentine's Day!
