Help! I seem to have lost November

I can't believe it is already December 5th.  My last post was November 1st.  Oopsie.  My lack of posts wasn't due to lack of content.  November was a pretty packed month.  I just couldn't seem to ever make it to the computer.  When I actually had an opportunity to sit down and write, reality tv or sleeping would always win out.  Yep, that's the sad truth.

Here's what we were up to last month:

Harper got sick for the first time.  It was awful.  She had a really high fever and an awful cough.  We had to do breathing treatments and steroids to finally knock it out.

I helped host my sister's baby shower for my sweet little nephew who will make his debut next month.  I will probably do a separate post on this eventually because everything turned out so cute.

My girlfriends and I took a little weekend trip (planned and booked by our sweet husbands...major points!) to Fredericksburg.  We had a blast indulging in all the food, wine, and shopping that adorable little town has to offer.  There will most definitely be a repeat trip in the future.

We went to Izzy's Fall Feast at school.  Her class wore the sweetest little Pilgrim hats.  Well, everyone except for my daughter, who flat out refused to have any part of it.  I'm willing to bet that if were pink or sparkly, she would have been all over it.

We attended two birthday parties, both for Izzy and Harper's cousins.  The girls had a great time at both, and we of course enjoyed the cake. ;-)

Griff went on 2 out-of-town trips, leaving me as a single mother for a total of 7 days.  That's enough to make a girl go cray.

Griff proceeded to grow out his moustache for Movember.  It was out of control gross.

I ate entirely too much on Thanksgiving, but we had a great time with both of our families.

My mom, sister, aunt, and I ventured out for Black Friday sales.  It was very low-key this year.  We didn't wait in any lines, got everything we went for, and marked lots of gifts off our list.  And any day that ends with a Jack in the Box sausage, egg, and cheese croissant at 2 a.m. is a good time in my book.

Hopefully, this won't be my lone post for the month.  I hear two little girls notsopatiently calling for me from their beds who say otherwise though. :-/

Anyone else's husband participating in Movember, or am I the only unlucky one?

Click here to see what my silly hubs is up to this month.  So much for family pictures in November.

This was a real-life mustache spotting in Crosbyton, Texas.  Griff not-so-discretely snapped this photo while I was inside the convenience store.  You can thank my small bladder for this little gem.

31 Days of Fall Favorites :: Day 31 Happy Halloween

Sorry for picture overload, but my little princess and baby elephant are just too cute.  We had a fun night of trick-or-treating at my mom and dad's house.  Their neighborhood is nuts on Halloween.  They get tons of trick-or-treaters.  I'm talking packed.  It always makes for good people-watching though.  Izzy had a great time, but she was definitely a little cautious.  She steered clear of anything that looked too scary.  Can't say that I blame her.  Harper just chilled in the stroller.  Like her mama, she could sit outside and people watch all day.
It's worth mentioning that Izzy told me several months ago that she wanted to be a tiger.  So, I had grand plans for themed costumes for the family.  She would be a tiger, Harper would be an elephant, and hubs and I would be zoo keepers.  How cute would that have been??  Well, I found an adorable tiger costume for Izzy, got it home, and she informed me that she did not want to be a tiger.  She wanted to be a princess.  I should have known better.  So, that explains the elephant, which was too adorable to return.  And I gotta say, my princess is pretty darn adorable, too.

31 Days of Fall Favorites :: Day 30 Pumpkin Carving

We were a little late on the pumpkin carving this year.  Late as in we did it today.  On Halloween.  Is that normal?  I'm pretty sure most people do this before now.  Oh well.  It got done.  And we couldn't even find our little handy dandy pumpkin carving tools.  So unprepared.  This was a team effort, and I think I got the raw end of the deal.  This morning, the girls and I (okay, just me) gutted the pumpkin.  Izzy was not impressed.  She was not interested in helping and said it was gross.  Then she told me that I had spaghetti on my hands.  She says the funniest things.

Bad iphone pic
Hubs and the girls (okay, just hubs) carved the pumpkin this afternoon.  He did pretty good for not having the proper tools or stencils.  Maybe next year we will step up our game.  Nah.  Probably not.

31 Days of Fall Favorites :: Day 29 Mod Podge Paper Mache Letters

This was a super easy project that turned out so cute.  I just purchased paper mache letters at Hobby Lobby (wait to get them on sale if you can) and painted them black with acrylic paint.  Then I traced the letters onto scrapbook paper and cut them out to size.  I used an exacto knife inside the letters.  Then I applied mod podge to the back of the scrapbook paper as well as the paper mache letter and stuck them together.  When that dried, I went over the top of the scrapbook paper with more mod podge to seal it.  Total cost was probably around $10.  I've seen stuff like this at craft shows for sale for $40 and up.  That's nuts.  Get to Hobby Lobby and make your own.  And then send me pics. ;-)

31 Days of Fall Favorites :: Day 28 The Pumpkin Patch

Griff took last Tuesday off, so we took advantage of the day and went to the pumpkin patch with the girls.  This was our 4th year to visit, and we finally figured out the secret to surviving the pumpkin patch: go during the week!  It was so nice.  We didn't have to wait in line for anything, and I wasn't constantly stressing out that Izzy was going to get away from me and lost in the crowd.  Hopefully we will be able to visit during the week from now on.  We took a bunch of pictures, but the girls didn't cooperate for very many of them.  Oh well, such is life.
You may recognize their shirts from this post

Harper's face cracks me up.  "Tell me again why I'm in this thing???"

Sweet, sweet sisters

This is Harper's latest face.  We call it "old man face"

A nice lady took a picture of all of us.  She took about ten, and this is as good as it gets.

31 Days of Fall Favorites :: Day 27 Candy Corn

I have a bad to very bad addiction to candy corn. It's a little out of control. So much in fact that I received this card in the mail today from my sweet friend.

Need I say more?

31 Days of Fall Favorites :: Day 26 Boo at the Zoo

We are fortunate to live so close to a great zoo.  Izzy absolutely loves visiting, so she and I got zoo passes back in the summer.  Since school started back, we haven't had much time to get to the zoo, so I wanted to make sure she was able to go to Boo at the Zoo this year.  Hubs and I were out of town last weekend (which explains all my delinquent posts), and the girls went to Boo at the Zoo with their Nanna and Pop-Pop.  I had never been before, and I wanted to experience it with the kids, so my friend Tracy and I went again on Friday.  Izzy had a blast, and Harper was a little angel.  She loves being outside...don't all babies?  I had enough to keep up with, so the nice camera stayed at home and I just used my phone to take a few pics.

She wanted to dress up like Sleeping Beauty, but it was freezing, so you couldn't see much of her dress.

She had a blast in this bounce house, aka the death chamber.  Those kids were rough!

31 Days of Fall Favorites :: Day 25 Fall Preschool Party

Izzy's class party was this past Thursday.  Last year, I jumped at the chance to be the room mom for her class.  This year, I gladly checked the "help with party supplies" box on the volunteer sheet.  And I checked that little box with no guilt my friends.  I held Harper the entire party, even while trying to help Izzy with her snacks and projects, and I was just thinking of how stressed I would be if I were in charge of the party.

The party was cute.  They started off with a game of Hot Potato set to some cute music, which was actually "Hot Pumpkin."  Then, they each got to decorate a pumpkin, and ate entirely too much sugar.  And they each left with a little bag full of goodies.  Success.

This is the only picture I took, and it's from my phone. Don't judge.

31 Days of Fall Favorites :: Day 24 Pumpkin and Cheese Spice Bread

I got my Betty Crocker on this morning.  Well, I'm not sure that Betty Crocker bakes with Starbucks in hand (pumpkin spice latte - holla!) and the Pearl Jam station on Pandora, but she definitely should.  I was very excited about this recipe, and I'm sad to report that I am underwhelmed.

It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I expected.  Mainly the cream cheese part.  I thought it would be sweeter, and it just tasted a little off.  I really did like the rest of the bread though.  I would definitely make this again after tweaking the cream cheese mixture a bit.  It makes a pretty little loaf that would be ideal as Christmas gifts for the neighbors.  If you have a recipe similar to this or advice on how to tweak it, please share!  Find the full recipe here.

31 Days of Fall Favorites :: Day 23 Pottery Barn Goodies

I was checking out my Pottery Barn catalog the other day, and they have some adorable stuff for fall.  Too bad most of their stuff is overpriced, but still...nice to look at.  Here are a few of my favorites.

31 Days of Fall Favorites :: Day 22 Scarves

What is fall without a good scarf?  It is hands-down my favorite accessory for the season.  I need a new scarf like I need a hole in the head, but a quick internet search led me to these beauties.  I may have to add one, or two, or three of these to the wardrobe soon.
