Fun Hair Bows

After spending way too much on Isabelle's hair bows, I decided to start making them. I looked online and found a great website, http://www.girlythingsbows.com/, with step-by-step instructions . My first attempts were the ones she wore in the Grandparents Day post. These holiday bows were fun to make. They aren't perfect. I still haven't figured out how to get the loops even, but they look just as good as the bows that sell for $15 plus, so they'll do. My next project is a tutu for Izzy's halloween costume. Then, it's on to learning how to sew...you know, in all my free time. ;-)

  2. hey girls! I loved the bows in those grandparents day pictures! You did good. I've been making lots of bows lately..mainly little ones since Kelsi's been pulling the headbands off now, but I'm having too much fun making them in all sizes! I love www.theribbonretreat.com to buy ribbon from and sweetbabybowtique.com has instructions you can buy that are great, but keep checking the website because they put them on sale often (the $25 instructions were $10 last time I looked). Also, not sure if you've checked out youtube, but the girl that does the instructions for the boutique bow on girlythingsbows has videos! I used them often. Can't wait to see Izzy's halloween costume!

  3. You got it, Katie!

Tara, I don't have your email address. I tried to get it from your profile, but no such luck. Send me an email if you don't mind so I can start following your blog! Hope all is well with you! jenniferlbabb@yahoo.com

  5. Sounds like fun, Crystal. I got so many cute ideas when I went to Canton last weekend, but didn't want to pay the ridiculous prices! I've never used a sewing maching in my life, but my mom is going to teach me soon. We're starting with matching aprons for me and Izzy. Fun, fun!!!

  6. Super cute -- I'd love to get together with you sometime for some bow making! I've tried my hand at it a few times...yours came out much cuter, though. Thanks for the website.

  8. Hey Jenn...just checking out your bows in comparison to the website. Which instructions did you use? I'm working on making Kelsi's holiday/birthday bows. I'm hoping to get some cute pictures for her birthday with her first "big bow"...if only she'll keep it on long enough. Did you use bows or loops to make the bows? the halloween one looks like Loops while the Christmas one looks like bows. Just let me know so I can get these made for her! Izzy looks great!

  9. Hey Tara,

I just noticed this comment from you...sorry! For both of the holiday bows, I used instructions for the "Perky Loops" bow. My bows don't always turn out the same even when I follow the exact same instructions, so that may be why they look a little different. For both bows, I made the two perky loop bows seperately, then sewed the straight ribbons together, then stacked them with hot glue, then I wrapped the center ribbon around all three pieces. Hope this helps! I've been keeping up with your blog, but it won't show up as a blog I'm following for some reason. Kelsi is a little doll! Can't wait to see more pics!

  10. Hey Jen...The night I wrote you that comment I found the instructions for the "perky loop" bow and boy was that fun...I've made 3 bows with it...TROUBLE! I know Kelsi won't wear the bigger bows right now, but I'm hoping someday we'll get some use out of them. I did make her a pretty outrageous b-day bow (only 16 days!) and will post pics soon! since my Blog is private, so that might be why it's not showing up on your list, but I've gotten my private ones to show up, others just can't get access to them...keep trying!
